DHA 44

Dyes in History & Archaeology

Ottawa, Canada

7-10 October 2025

The 44th annual Dyes in History and Archaeology meeting (DHA 44) will take place in Ottawa from Tuesday 7th October to Thursday 9th October 2025, coordinated by the Canadian Conservation Institute (CCI), the National Gallery of Canada (NGC), and the Canadian Museum of History (CMH). The conference will consist of a three-day programme of posters and presentations at the NGC, with a dye workshop featuring Indigenous dyeing techniques and materials, for interested participants following the conference on October 10th. See the draft programme here. More details coming soon!

Call for Papers

Papers are invited focusing on the history, production, trade and application of dyes and organic pigments as well as their analytical characterization and identification.  

Please submit your abstract (maximum 300 words) using the abstract template provided including your name, affiliation, and contact information by May 12th 2025, stating whether you wish to present a full paper or a poster. Please note that the conference language is English.
